Regularly refilling and maintaining fire extinguishers is crucial for fire safety and compliance. Whether done in-house or by professionals, it ensures that fire extinguishers are functional and reliable when needed most. Regular inspections, adherence to manufacturer recommendations, and compliance with regulations are key to effective fire extinguisher maintenance.
When to Refill a Fire Extinguisher
The Fire Extinguishers are discharged for emptying the content, meantime extinguishers performance also checked.
Then the extinguisher is dismantled / disassembled completely and cylinder is cleaned for any trace of content inside the cylinder.
Then the cylinder undergoes a Hydro Static Pressure Test at 35 bar for 2.5 minutes to check for leaks and the strength of welding quality.
The cylinder subjected for semi-automatic powder coating process and then baking in Oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes. This gives the new look, super fine quality and durable new paint surface on the cylinder.
Fresh extinguishing Medium such as Dry Chemical powders, Gas, Water or various types of Foams filled in the cylinder through vacuum based a process that fills the cylinder with accurate amount of extinguishing agent.
Then the extinguishers are assembled with discharge valve by torque wrench to maintain the fitment accuracy and all the O’ Rings are replaced with new ones.
Fire extinguisher is charged / pressurized with UHP grade 99.99% pure nitrogen mixed with helium.
Then the fire extinguishers are subjected to dual leak test process i.e. Inverted Glass Jar leakage test in water and Mass Spectro Meter Helium Leak Detection Test.
